If in Red Bay, I highly recommend Fowler Detailing as they went above and beyond and were flexible with our dates as the weather created some challenges. April also owns a business called Happy Hosts that is a concierge service that will book all your appointments with the Red Bay vendors. April has a direct connection to all the amazing service providers in the area and I also highly recommend using her Happy Host concierge service. Easy peasy!

Belmont Service - Davidson RB

Davidson RV needed to keep our coach over night so we found a close by Bed & Breakfast just down the street. It was the only place to stay with short notice and the family was so kind and helped us out. I just wish the houses in the South had better heating! Oh well, we were thankful we had a roof over our heads and a hot shower. In the morning, we had breakfast at the innkeeper's restaurant and the home made biscuits for the breakfast sandwich was amazing. We have been back a few times just for the breakfast sandwiches.

Mount Plesant / Charleston

IMG_1693Great spot, large patio with comfy chairs and a nice fire pit. Do you see Darrel on the roof? He is doing a A/C unit repair.
IMG_1760Supervising the roof work from a safe distance. I'm not insured if i go on the roof!

IMG_1702As the sun sets, we took Cody for a walk. Yes, avoid the water, like usual in the south.

IMG_1773Gators! eeek!

IMG_1705Lovely walk as the sun setts. So peaceful and relaxing.

IMG_1692Nice pool, but it was closed for the season.

IMG_1708The lake is nice for boating, but no swimming due to gators.

IMG_1720Charleston has some great sites to see, like Rainbow Row.

IMG_1733More colourful houses along Rainbow Row.

IMG_1728Cody is loving meeting new people and checking out new cities.

IMG_1749We crossed over this bridge to get downtown.

  • Campsite #??
  • Review: Easy to navigate campground, with paved roads, some shaded spots but still great clearance for Starlink. One of our A/C units started making a loud noise so Darrel inspected and deemed we needed a part. Ordered the parts and just had to use the two other A/C units. Not a big deal, but the weather is hot and we have lots of sun. We like to keep the motorhome cool for Cody. He hates the heat, and well, so does Darrel. We took a short drive downtown to see Charleston and I am so glad we did. The city has so much souther charm and lots to see. Charleston has lots to offer, but we only stayed a few hours and made our way back to the motorhome for dinner and to feed Cody. We had a great day sightseeing and enjoying the people we met.

Tow Hitch Service in Swift Current Saskatchewan

IMG_0358

Tow Hitch Saga

Our towed vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, is attached to the motorhome with a BlueOx tow kit. We noticed that when connecting the electrical between the motorhome and the Jeep, the signal lights were not working as they should be. This is a serious a safety issue and we needed it solved quickly.

We called The Hitch Shop (South) in Calgary from Swift Current and they were able to send us the wiring diagram for the kit. We then stoped into BNL Enterprises Ltd. for some assistance, to make sure we got this right.

Bob with BNL was wonderful and was able to correct the issue caused by The Hitch Shop (South) not installing and configuring the curly cable correctly. It was disappointing to know it hadn’t been set up properly, but Bob certainly shined as he sorted everything for us.

I've reached out to The Hitch Shop (South) to see if they would offer to pay the invoice or offer some for of compensation to cover the invoice from BNL, as the root cause of the failure was due to their mistake. I hope that they will make this right and call us back to discuss the matter, and hopefully ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

No matter what they decide, I will be sure to write an accurate and appropriate google review for both companies. Reviews help consumers make decisions, and whether they’re good or bad, it’s important to write them so we can all get the best experience out of our adventures.

For now, we are back on the road again and heading east. Safe travels ahead for us and hopefully for all of you!

Fault Error

IMG_0861

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!?!?

On our way to Grande Prairie (GP) from Whtiecourt, this popped up on the dash. The fault is yellow (not red) so we stop at the next roadside turnout (it was only 1 km away) and we called Freightliner to give them the code of SPN 3058 FMI 18 SA0. They advised that this has something to do with the exhaust emissions therefore it would eventually result in the engine being derated (loose power, either 25% or more). The directed us to call the nearest dealership (in GP) for service. We drove to GP and went right to the Western Star Freightliner service centre where they did a quick diagnostic and advised they need to clean a sensor but have no shop time available until Monday. So, plans are changing and very fluid. Before starting this journey, I asked in a Facebook group, what was the 1 thing I should pack or be aware of, and many people said to pack your patiences and expect the unexpected (thank you Big Brother Canada). We have extended our stay in GP until Monday when we take the rig to Western Star at 8:00 AM. Let's hope they can get us back on the road and visiting our Friends Tyson and Han (The Boys) as soon possible as this fault has impacted their Vacation along with ours. Stay posted for more updates!
