Augusta - Central Maine

IMG_1033It's starting to feel like Halloween.

IMG_1046Awesome decorations.

IMG_1057We took a little drive to the neighbouring park that has water access.

IMG_1066A nice wooden boardwalk to the beach and boat launch. The leaves have started to fall and it looks so pretty.

IMG_1060Yellow, orange and green. As we have driven across Canada and now the USA, we have seen the different stages of Autumn and luckily we seem to be chasing the leaves as they turn. We are pretty lucky.

IMG_1071Lots of lovely cottages along the beaches.

  • Review: $70 / night for pull through site. The entire campground on a hillside and tricky to navigate. Earlier in the year, the rain washed out the roads but the campground was quick to repair (as per the reviews). We were able to navigate the hill down to the office and then back up the hill to our site. We did not unhook the jeep to park but we did to level the motorhome. The campground is outside of town and you have to take the highway to shops. The campground staff were friendly and decorated for Halloween.

Hello USA - Bangor Maine

IMG_1010When in Bangor, you must stop in and see Stephen King.
IMG_1018The home is beautiful and Stephen lives in Florida but was here recovering from hip surgery. Speedy recovery!

  • Review: $100 / night for pull through site. We had to unhook the Jeep so we could do a 4 point turn into our assigned site. They put us in the hardest site to navigate, but I am getting good (with Darrel's help) at navigating these awkward and old KOA campgrounds.

Moncton and PEI

IMG_0868An unobstructed view of the sky for starlink and lots of grass, but we did have to move sites.

IMG_0877Magnetic Hill was pretty cool to see.

IMG_0932A quick trip to PEI in the Jeep!

IMG_0900Our first corn maze, took a good 30 minutes to make our way through it. Got some good steps in.

IMG_0988Amazing beaches.

IMG_0964The coast is so unique and the red sand so soft and welcoming.

IMG_0989Cody loves the beach and is happy seeing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time.

IMG_0974The ocean is carving cool designs into the coast line.

IMG_0938Beautiful beach for days!

IMG_0996Walking back to the car, good-bye PEI - We will see you again!

  • Review: $50 / night for pull through site. The sites designated for big rigs are not very big rig friendly. We had to move sites (two down) as the first site was not level and we could not safely auto-level the motorhome. The new site was easy for the motorhome to level but road was narrow and when leaving we had to drive though the campsite in front of us, thank goodness the spot was empty when leaving. I would stay here again as it is so close to Magnetic Hill the water park and PEI but I would ask the office to put me on the end site. We met a couple that were headed to Red Bay for their Halloween service. They were then headed to Mexico with a few other coaches. I am not sure I would want to drive our rig in Mexico.

Journey South (Second Leg)

Towards Sunny Weather

Today we started planning our journey south, the second leg of what will eventually four legs (East, South, West and North). Our plan this leg is to get south reasonably fast, before the campgrounds close for the season and to enter the area where campgrounds are open all year long. So here is our plan that will keep us aware from New York City but close to some cool places. Darrel really wanted to see Salem close to Halloween, but it looks like we may be in Wilmington NC for Halloween if all goes as planned.

Happy Thanksgiving

IMG_0790Did somebody say - ROAD TRIP! I'm ready.

IMG_0797We just parked and started the 600 meter hike to the lookout. Quads to the left and cars/hikers to the right.

IMG_0800The leaves look so awesome.

IMG_0802Lucy welcoming us to to Jaquet River Gorge Lookout in total Vanna White style!

IMG_0809A day trip to Jaquet River Gorge to see the fall colours. It was a close 25 minute drive and 15 minute walk to Paul's Lookout. I am so glad we went for a drive today. Thank-you Clarence for the suggestion.

IMG_0810This was Kathleen and the kids first time here. We did not plan on the hike today, we may have all had the worst footwear, but we made it.

IMG_0805The beauty and power of Mother Nature is felt here. What a special spot.

IMG_0806Amazing view!

IMG_0780So many things to be thankful for this year, like a beautiful day when the fog clears and leaves a rainbow behind.

IMG_0726All roads seem to lead you to a lighthouse in Atlantic Canada.

IMG_0742Cody loves his walks around the lighthouse and beach.

IMG_0736Cody sharing the love and our journey together. Lucky dog!

IMG_0795We stopped in at a local farmers market for dinner buns for Thanksgiving dinner and found home made sausages, mustard pickle and lady Ashburnham pickles. What a treat and reminded me of an Auntie from Saskatchewan that would make mustard pickles.
