Camp David Next to Army Base

IMG_1321This monument is above the road that leads to the US Army base.

IMG_3166Our gps took us right to the Army base. How nice.

IMG_3186As we entry the Army base, there is tank and a U turn.

IMG_3152All setup in our campsite after the gps misguidance.

IMG_3200The deer and checking us out.

IMG_3205At night, we heard the Army testing their firing of tanks and machine guns. The odd helicopter flew over too. We were right on the perimeter of the base.

Jacksonville North / St. Marys KOA

IMG_1863Large campsite and the KOA offers food and drink delivery too.

IMG_1867Starlink worked great for high speed internet and TV.

IMG_1865Lovely pool with waterslide. A few kids used the pool as the water was not hated.

  • Review: This KOA is on the Georgia / Florida state line. We met a couple here that we first seen 5 RV parks back in Wilmington NC. The park is clean, dog friendly and the safe are very nice. We were in a pull through site, but we needed to unhook the Jeep to get out and navigate a few very tight spots (5 point turn). We had dinner delivered, and the chicken breasts sandwiches were very good. I would have went for a swim as the weather was great, but the pool was not heated.

Savannah

IMG_1227Welcome to Georgia sign.

IMG_1806The lake at our campground. Funny how there is a nice bench to site at, but beside the bench is a sign that warns you of gators. Hmmm. I wonder how many people encounter a gator here!?!?

IMG_1809Eaten alive by mosquitoes but the weather was warm and it was a great evening. The blanket is used to hide from mosquitoes and not to stay warm!

IMG_1228Old Savanna cobble stone streets that are centuries old. 0

IMG_1844Cody enjoying his first Candy store.

IMG_1823We stopped into a local hotel for some A/C and a bathroom break for Darrel and I.

IMG_1839We drove down the cobble stone alley that goes between the high street and the low street between the historic buildings. If you have not been to Savannah, but this on your bucket list. So pretty.

IMG_1837Beautiful historic buildings.

IMG_1832Historic stone steps.

IMG_1838And the steps close up. These steps are over 200 years old.

  • Review: Easy to get in, but when leaving we had to ask the neighbour to move their truck so we could get out. Not a big issue, as the neighbour was very friendly. We realized quickly that we needed to order mosquito repellent from Amazon right away. The skeeters were worse than Saskatchewan! The campground is large and had many seasonal long term residents. There are some pretty awesome swans and birds on the lake. There is a lot of warning signs asking you to stay away from the water due to gators. So we walked the property but stayed back from the water. We decided to do a sightseeing trip into town and see the old south. Savannah is very pretty and walking the old streets along the historical buildings was great. There is a famous candy store that we went into and they welcomed Cody too — I have to say, this was Cody's first candy store and he loved it! They even had a dog bone dipped in pet friendly chocolate! Yum.
