Christmas Under The Sun

This time of year normally is spent at home with family, friends, snow and winter. This year was different and I must say I feel blessed being able to travel in our motorhome and be with Cody in a warm place at Christmas time. In the past, we have flown and were not able to travel with Cody, so this amazing that the three of us are together. No matter where you are, home is where your heart is and the spirit of Christmas fills your heart. Thank you to our family and friends for supporting us on our journey and know that all of you are here with us in spirit, memory and in our heart. Merry Christmas!

Reunited with Charlene. It's the people in life that make the moments so special. Last time we seen Charlene was when we were heading out of Phoenix, after selling the condo and driving back to Calgary. It was great reconnecting and experiencing Wilmington. My good friend Dick brought us together, I am just sad that Dick is no longer with us. We miss you Dick.

Hello Aida, sweet girl. So nice to meet you. Cody loves his new cousin and feels at home here. Dick loved Cody so it is fitting that Cody feels so welcome here in Wilmington.

Charlene made an amazing seafood dinner and me got to meet TR and Paula, both who have become immediate friends and we cannot wait to see you two again soon.

Downtown Wilmington is beautiful and I am glad I have experienced it first hand. Dick used to speak about these sites I am finally seeing in person. Again, I miss you Dick. I am glad i am here with Charlene.

Halloween Cemetery Walk - A little spooky but we had a lot of fun with our friends and our new friends. It's nice to see such an active prideful community.

• Review: We enjoyed the campground but to be honest we did not spend much time here. We were busy visiting cherished friends and did not take in much at the campground. Our campsite was free and clear of large trees so Starlink worked great. We did use the laundry facilities and it was nice to see you could use an app and Apple Pay. Wilmington has lots to offer and has a very large and active gay community. We were welcomed with open arms and met lots of new friends. Thank you Charlene, TR and Paula for a wonderful time. Cody loved meeting his cousin Aida and we cannot wait to return. We miss all of you so much.

Due to a booking error on my part, we needed to say a few more nights. We moved from our original site to this more secluded site. Starlink worked great and it was aimed right at a tree with no leaves.

It's trick-or-treat night here at the KOA and there is a spooky full moon over our motorhome.

We have a halloween video playing as we hand out candy to all the kids. There had to be 100 kids, way more than we get at home.

We had our first campfire and made s'mores after handing out candy.

Cody enjoyed the campfire and evening of trick-or-treating.

This KOA planned an amazing evening of fun and entertainment. The spooky haunted house was a big hit. This KOA did halloween right!

Every inch of the property is decorated and at night looks great.

The haunted RV's will be fun to visit.

It's daylight and still pretty spooky.

The KOA has guines that eat ticks. They let the birds loose each morning and they return before dark to be rounded up put in their coup.

I love the fire barrels. There was also a main bonfire where you met to queue up for the haunted RV tour.

The haunted RV's are almost ready to open.

There is a campsite decorating contest and it was hard to choose who had the best setup. People were so creating and went all out.

• Review: This KOA does halloween right. People book a year in advance to celebrate the halloween weekends and we are lucky that we got to take it all in. There was a booking error on my part and the campground was sold out. The staff were so accommodating and they moved their own motorhome so we had a place to say. Thank you so much! The halloween party was awesome, with costume judging, dog costume judging, campsite decoration judging and trick-or-treating. We went to town and got lots of candy as there was so many kids in the campground, we knew it would be a great evening for handing out candy. We met the IT guy at the campground and we started talking about our starlink and he asked if we tried the KOA wifi. I said no, and he said give it a try. I was so impressed that the KOA had gigabit internet at each site. This KOA has invested a lot of money and time into true high speed internet were you can stream till your hearts content. If you are in the area and it's close to halloween, you need to stay here. I would literally plan my next stay around halloween, it was so much fun. Thanks KOA for an amazing time.
