Point South / Yemassee

IMG_1778Great corner spot with some trees but no issues with Starlink.

IMG_1790I am not sure what these plants are called, but they are huge and really pretty.

IMG_1788Awesome pool, but sadly not heated. Too cold to swim in for this americanized Canadian.

IMG_1794What a nice find, a fab wine and pizza bar in the KOA. All the wines are local and we enjoyed a great wine (or two).

  • Review: Lovely campground just off the I95 highway. There is two ways to get here from the highway, you just need to take your time and wait for a break in the road if arriving from the north. The campground has some walking paths but they were very clear, do not leave the KOA property as there is a lake and gators. We stuck to the campground walking paths and were very safe. We fed Cody his dinner and then we stopped in for a glass of wine and a pizza. We had the intention of getting the pizza to go, but we indulged in a second glass of wine and ate the pizza there. Yum. The guy who escorted us to our campsite when we arrived said they had the best pizza in town. He also said that they had the only pizza in town, so we set the bar low. Well, the pizza was great, the wine was even better and we ended the night with some special chocolates at the coffee bar. This was by far the nicest surprise at a KOA. Great place, awesome people and we would recommend this campground.

Mount Plesant / Charleston

IMG_1693Great spot, large patio with comfy chairs and a nice fire pit. Do you see Darrel on the roof? He is doing a A/C unit repair.
IMG_1760Supervising the roof work from a safe distance. I'm not insured if i go on the roof!

IMG_1711Motorhome by night.

IMG_1702As the sun sets, we took Cody for a walk. Yes, avoid the water, like usual in the south.

IMG_1773Gators! eeek!

IMG_1705Lovely walk as the sun setts. So peaceful and relaxing.

IMG_1692Nice pool, but it was closed for the season.

IMG_1708The lake is nice for boating, but no swimming due to gators.

IMG_1720Charleston has some great sites to see, like Rainbow Row.

IMG_1733More colourful houses along Rainbow Row.

IMG_1728Cody is loving meeting new people and checking out new cities.

IMG_1749We crossed over this bridge to get downtown.

IMG_1753The legendary pineapple fountain.

  • Review: Easy to navigate campground, with paved roads, some shaded spots but still great clearance for Starlink. One of our A/C units started making a loud noise so Darrel inspected and deemed we needed a part. Ordered the parts and just had to use the two other A/C units. Not a big deal, but the weather is hot and we have lots of sun. We like to keep the motorhome cool for Cody. He hates the heat, and well, so does Darrel. We took a short drive downtown to see Charleston and I am so glad we did. The city has so much souther charm and lots to see. Charleston has lots to offer, but we only stayed a few hours and made our way back to the motorhome for dinner and to feed Cody. We had a great day sightseeing and enjoying the people we met.

Myrtle Beach

IMG_1639Lots of trees so we did not use Starlink but the campsite was welcoming and we had a great outdoor space. We did drive to the beach each day, and we even seen other Canadian vehicles parked.

IMG_1684Cody enjoying an afternoon nap outside in the beautiful weather.

IMG_1620Paula Dean's family restaurant has been on our bucket list to try. Food is served family style and was very tasty. I am glad we got to try it! All ya'll need more butter!

IMG_1632Great location in the heart of the tourist area.

IMG_1673We walled the beaches and made our way to the local pier.

IMG_1679Lots of rides in Myrtle Beach along with a mini golf course on every block.

IMG_1669Lots of fun things to see and do, and kids would have a blast here.

IMG_1648Beautify beaches. We are thinking of our friend Barbra who loves to walk the beaches in NJ. We miss you!

IMG_1672I am just so shocked at how nice the beaches are along the warm North Atlantic ocean. WOW!

IMG_1657Cody's foot prints on the beach. Gosh, he has left his foot prints on all of our lives too! I love that we can travel and bring him along on our journey. The motorhome was purchased so we could travel with Cody and live our best lives together.

IMG_1664Early morning trip to walk the beach and then rest for a bit while taking in the sights and sounds of the ocean.

IMG_1670Another boardwalk to explore.

IMG_1644Lovely beach!

IMG_1668There is an amusement park every second block. This place would be so busy in the summer months. Glad we are her win the off-season, exploring without the craziness.

IMG_1674And more beach before the sunset.

IMG_1689When near water, you must take in the amazing sunsets.

IMG_1687So blessed to share these moments with both Darrel and Cody. We have seen impressive sunsets in Hawai'i before, but never with Cody. So glad the three of us are together.

  • Review: The campground is a bit of a drive to the beach, not really walkable. The camp sites are large but lots of trees and we were not able to use Starlink. A quick drive into the heart of Myrtle Beach and mini golf and rides on every block. This town is made for holidays and entertainment in a beach setting. We had a great time and we would love to come back someday.
