New Brunswick Provincial Park

IMG_0653We've made it to New Brunswick, the end of our first (of four) legs of our 2023 journey. New Brunswick is the only Province where English and French is on every sign.

IMG_0654I've never seen paved lanes right up to the campsite in a provincial campground. This place is awesome and there is so much to see and do in the area. We took the Jeep to get a bath from all the unpaved roads we were on in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The car is sparkling now. Unsure how to give the motorhome a bath. Once more night and we will be with Kathleen, Clarence and the kiddos. So exciting.

  • Campsite #65
  • Review: $44.00 a night with full hookups, paved lanes right to campsite in wooded trees. This has to be the nicest campground I have ever stayed in that is government owned and run.

Quebec City

IMG_0634Cody enjoying autumn and the beautiful red leaves.

IMG_0630Cute water park with pool and hot tub.

  • Review: $74.15 a night with full hookups, beautiful pools, walking paths for Cody and great setting for meeting new people.

The Paris of North America - Near Montreal

IMG_0614Oh Canada!

IMG_0608Super cute pool with a roaming pup. He was happy to say hi and check out the pool, all to himself. Happy

IMG_0611A maple syrup shack that has been converted to a camper. Pretty cool.

IMG_0619An odd spot to see the Eiffel Tower, but hey, we are in Quebec and now Darrel can say he visited an Eiffel Tower.

Montreal South KOA Campground:

  • Campsite #E8
  • Review: $78.75 a night with full hookups and amazing grass. The park is so green and dog friendly. We met so many people travelling across Canada from BC and Alberta.

Renfrew - Near Ottawa

IMG_0595Pretty lake with autumn colours.

IMG_0596As you can imagine the mosquitoes are out in full force.

  • Campsite #114
  • Review: $68.00 a night with full hookups and fire pit in a very large open field set back from the lake. We enjoyed having a very large open area for Cody to run free in.

Cameron's Beach Campground

IMG_0554Absolutely beautiful beach. I wish we were here in the heat of summer. This would be an amazing place to spend some time relaxing in the sun on the sandy beach.

IMG_0548I loved Penticton, BC as a child, but this beach and cottage country in Ontario is amazing.

IMG_0576You can really see the autumn colours now in this northern part of Ontario.

IMG_1031We stopped at a rest stop just outside of the campground for Cody to stretch his legs and this stop sure did not disappoint.

  • Review: $55.00 a night with full hookups with amazing beach. If you plan to be in the area, I would make a reservation here. This multi-generation run campground will not disappoint.

Wild Goose Lake Campground - Greenstone Ontario

IMG_0509Driveway to the campground. We are literally camping in the middle of nowhere, quiet, beautiful and secluded. WOW.

IMG_0523The lake water is calm and the campground is quiet, so peaceful.

IMG_0525Time for Cody to lead us on a walk. "Come on Daddy Jeff and Darrel, there is so much to see".

IMG_0538Beautiful sunset with the reflection on the lake. So happy to have taken in the sunset while reflecting on the day - so much to be thankful for. So grateful for Darrel, Cody and the life that has lead me to this chance of a life time journey.

IMG_0546Good Morning - fog is hovering over the lake, mesmerizing. The fog is thick as pea soup. Once we got onto the highway, there was next to no viability for the next few hours. Next time, we will hang tight for a few hours before setting off on our foggy morning journey

Wild Goose Lake Campground:

  • Campsite #11
  • Review: $48.00 a night with full hookups however when we arrived, we only had 30 amp power and water. The water was not safe to drink so we just used the power. We always travel with some water for these issues. I was disappointed that we paid for water and sewer only to find out that they only have 1 site with all three services.

Thunderbay Ontario

IMG_0487The Terry Fox Monument is a must see if you are in the area. There is a new highway now, but the spot where Terry Fox stopped his journey has been preserved near by. Out of respect for Terry Fox (I believe), it is not advertised, but when arriving or departing, if look closely and you can see it memorialized surrounded by grass and trees.

IMG_0496Ahhhhh, put on your water wings! When driving to town, the road disappeared into the lake and it fell like we were going to get wet! I feel the education system in Alberta has failed me as I did not learn much about the great lakes, or Canada for that matter. I had no idea that Lake Superior (or any of the great lakes) are connected. It was a surprise to see oil tankers in the lake. Why can't Alberta oil come to the oil tankers here and then out to tide water?

  • Review: $66.00 a night with full hookups. Nice area to walk Cody and the dog area has a splash pool for dogs. We did not use the splash pool but I could see it very useful in the hot summer months.
