Wilmington NC - Halloween with Friends

IMG_1529Reunited with Charlene. It's the people in life that make the moments so special. Last time we seen Charlene was when we were heading out of Phoenix, after selling the condo and driving back to Calgary. It was great reconnecting and experiencing Wilmington. My good friend Dick brought us together, I am just sad that Dick is no longer with us. We miss you Dick.

IMG_1558Hello Aida, sweet girl. So nice to meet you. Cody loves his new cousin and feels at home here. Dick loved Cody so it is fitting that Cody feels so welcome here in Wilmington.

IMG_1578 (1)Charlene made an amazing seafood dinner and me got to meet TR and Paula, both who have become immediate friends and we cannot wait to see you two again soon.

IMG_1535Familiar? These steps are the ones used in Matlock.

IMG_1531Downtown Wilmington is beautiful and I am glad I have experienced it first hand. Dick used to speak about these sites I am finally seeing in person. Again, I miss you Dick. I am glad i am here with Charlene.

IMG_1553Nice view from under the pier in the shade.

IMG_1555Charlene and I together on the beach. Hugs.

Screenshot 2023-10-31 at 9.02.22 AMHalloween Cemetery Walk - A little spooky but we had a lot of fun with our friends and our new friends. It's nice to see such an active prideful community.

IMG_1581Oh no - Canada died and is buried here.

IMG_1602Halloween walkers who were scary enough not to need a costume.

IMG_1594And now the folks who dressed up for the occasion. Great fun and the puppers loved the walks and meeting new dogs.

IMG_1609Halloween night with some live music and a drink. Anyone up for bobbing for apples?

  • Review: We enjoyed the campground but to be honest we did not spend much time here. We were busy visiting cherished friends and did not take in much at the campground. Our campsite was free and clear of large trees so Starlink worked great. We did use the laundry facilities and it was nice to see you could use an app and Apple Pay. Wilmington has lots to offer and has a very large and active gay community. We were welcomed with open arms and met lots of new friends. Thank you Charlene, TR and Paula for a wonderful time. Cody loved meeting his cousin Aida and we cannot wait to return. We miss all of you so much.

  • Review: The campground is next to the theme park and I believe is the same owners. Lots of campsites and many were decorated for Halloween. The theme park was closed during the day but opened at nights for their spooky nights. You could hear kids screaming from the roller coasters in the distance and it was actually nice to hear as you walk the spooky decorated campground. We only stayed one night as we are in a hurry to get to North Carolina to see Charlene and Aida. Our campsite had many trees so we did not setup Starlink. We did not disconnect the Jeep but when we left we had to ask the neighbour to move his truck so we could pull out. The park was sold out so they put us in a smaller spot that really was suited for a 30 foot RV and not a 40 foot one. We also only had 30 amp electric and our all electric motorhome likes 50 amps. We made it work for the one night we were there. We also had a campfire where we cooked hotdogs.

Washington DC

IMG_1437Large campsite with trees, so Starlink was setup in front of the motorhome.

IMG_1512Cody enjoying the outdoor and looking forward to the day in DC tomorrow.

IMG_1503Visiting Biden at the White House. Cody was looking to meet Commander, but he was nowhere to be seen. Possible he was busy eating the Secret Service agent again. ha ha ha.

IMG_1478Look at me in DC!

IMG_1455So happy to check DC off my bucket list. Loving the National Monument.

IMG_1466And the Capitol. So relevant to see this building now since the January incident and the attack on democracy.

IMG_1499Enjoying the White House and surprised to see how small the building really is.

IMG_1176Feeling blessed to be here.

IMG_1460Enjoying some shade on this unseasonal extreme heat.

IMG_1450Museums and monuments and so little time to enjoy them all.

  • Review: Large big rig sites, some trees but we were able to use Starlink on the ground in front of the motorhome. Pool was closed for the season and being so close to Halloween, everyone had their campsites decorated. The drive took us 30 minutes or so to get to the parking garage close to the White House. We had a wonderful day touring DC and seeing the sites to see.

Atlantic City, Cape May and Beaches

IMG_1290Visiting Ventnor pier and checking out Lucy.
IMG_1267Hello Lucy! Originally created to attract visitors to the area when they seen a huge elephant from the water when arriving at Atlantic City. They claim it never worked back then, but now, Ventnor is the place to be!

IMG_7007Cody and Lucy.
IMG_1288Just love at the beach.

IMG_7010Hello from the beach!

IMG_1349And another special day at the beach.

IMG_1337Lovely lunch on the patio.

IMG_1351Site seeing in Cape May, amazing historic hotel across from the beach.

IMG_1355Ferry terminal we will depart from soon!

IMG_1361Cody's first ferry ride, off to Deleware we go.

IMG_1363Yes, there is a motorhome onboard but it's not ours. Nice to know they fit!

IMG_1387Watching the vehicles drive off the ferry in Deleware. We took the same ferry back to New Jersey.

IMG_1374We met at sea, so it was nice to be back on the water relaxing and reminiscing.

IMG_1393Spotted some marine life in the ocean and taking time to reflect on life and enjoy the sea breeze in the sun.

IMG_1404As the sun starts to set, I reflect on the day and people making this day so grand. Lucky to experience all of this with Cody.

IMG_1413As the day comes to an end, we rush to the beach to capture the moments the sun is swallowed up by the ocean.

IMG_1408So blessed to be able to watch the sun set and share this moment with Barbara, Darrel and Cody.

IMG_1412Tomorrow we continue our journey south. We had a great time and cannot wait to be back to see you Barbara, Mike, Sean and Milo. Hugs.

  • Review: Large big rig sites, some trees but we were able to use Starlink. All of our time was spent visiting Barbara, Mike and Sean in New Jersey. I feel so blessed to reconnect with Barbara and Sean as we met long ago on a cruise and we have kept in touch. Finding friends at a hot tub and connecting with common ground makes lasting friendships to stand the length of time. Thank you so much Barbara and Mike for an amazing dinner that rates as one of the best (if not the best) seafood restaurant I have ever been to. The food quality was on par with Mama's Fish House on Maui (for those that have been there). Top notch, just ask Guy Fiere! This was an actioned packed few days with beaches, casinos, piers, boardwalks, historic cities, cape may, ferry ride to Delaware and so much more. It was great meeting you Milo, can't wait to see you all again really soon! Hugs and love from us to you!
