Unique landscape from the rest of Texas.
A windy road, finally, it's been like drive to Saskatchewan.
Stopped for a break, how can you not take a picture! 
Spot #50 - pull through.

Close to highway and offers easy access to getting back on the road. This RV park is conveniently located between San Antonio and Las Cruces, giving us a nice 4 hour travel day. The staff at the Roadrunner Cafe were awesome and the food was all home made. I stopped back in at 7:30 PM to buy some of the biscuits they make for the road the next day. If you stay here, try the biscuits, yum!
The Alamo and San Antonio
We just arrived in San Antonio and our first stop is the Alamo. 
We only had half an hour before it closed, so it was a quick visit. 
The Spanish buildings are amazing to see.
The site of the Alamo is rich in history.
I wish we had more than 30 minutes here.
The Church was open longer and we were able to take our time.

This hall is used for games, entertainment and breakfast. 
The three Canadians - BC, SK and AB - too bad we were not all parked in the provincial order.

The staff loved meeting Cody and offered many hugs and kisses. The campground is in an area that is a bit dodgy but the onsite security removes any worries. We felt safe and the campground was large and lots of walking options for Cody. The Compound is not far from the Alamo, you can take a bus (DON'T), use a ride share service (Uber/Lyft), or drive your own car. There is pay parking around the Alamo, but again, it's a big city and the downtown core is a bit dodgy too! Lots of homeless, poverty and drug issues were seen.

Welcome to Texas!
We stopped at the visitor centre to walk Cody and call home to check in with Mom.
The beach runs for miles here on Bolivar Peninsula.

We drove around, discovering the area and found Fort Travis. 
Lots of grass for Cody to walk on around Fort Travis. 
The bunkers and gun turrets were interesting to see.

- Just steps to the beach on the other side of the sand dunes. Great location, relaxing fun environment.
It's obviously off-season in January but I can imagine how busy the place would be in the summer months. The entire peninsula is narrow and water on each side making this place feel like you are on an island. When we arrived it was overcast and windy, but the sun has come out and the wind is gone. It's time to take Cody for another beach walk.
